ALTEK® ECO²B

Picture Range Altek ECO2B V3

ALTEK® ECO²B is bitumen from direct distillation with additivation, in blocks packed with a thermofused film. It is often used as binder for bonding of insulating materials under hot temperatures (cellular glassfibre) and waterproofing membranes, for insulation and waterproof treatment of industrial buildings’ roofs. After the bloc liquefaction in a regulated temperature kettle, the material is ready to use for bonding operations.Compared to oxidized bitumen use for the same bonding insulating properties, ALTEK® ECO²B brings higher performances such as enhanced adhesion characteristics and optimum creep resistance, a better storage stability during summer weather and a better comfort for the installation teams.

The Total Ecosolutions Advantage

ALTEK® ECO²B was developed for an optimal application handling at a melting temperature 70°C lower than the one usually fixed for oxidized bitumen in standard conditions (temperature > 220°C and non-regulated temperature kettles). Moreover, the thermofused packaging film improves on-site waste management.

The Environmental Performance

  • Between 6%(1) and 27%(2) reduction in energy consumption on the whole life cycle and between 36%(1) and 58%(2) during the application phase
  • Between 13%(1) and 32%(2) reduction in greenhouse gases emissions on the whole life cycle and between 36%(1) and 58%(2) during the application phase
  • Reduction by a factor 14 of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons emissions during the application phase

(1) Standard practice with a non-regulated kettle

(2) Use of a regulated kettle
