EXCELL-R grades XLR 5350 and 5359

Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) has been used in a variety of applications for more than half a century. In 2015, Total introduced two premium grades of grey EPS, XLR 5350 (without flame retardant) and XLR 5359 SE (with a flame retardant). Both products are intended for the insulation market, which accounts for 80% of the EPS used today.

The Total Ecosolutions Advantage

In comparison with the white EPS, which is the market reference insulation product, the grey EPS grades XLR 5350 and XLR 5359 SE of the Total Excell-R range feature lower thermal conductivity for a given foam density, translating to superior insulation performance.

The Environmental Performance

Compared to the market reference product, white EPS (eco-profile data provided by Plastics Europe), the grey EPS grades XLR 5350 and XLR 5359 SE deliver environmental benefits, namely:

  • 18% reduction in energy consumption
  • 20%  reduction in greehouse gas emissions
