EXCELL-R grades XLR 5550 and 5559

Picture Excell-R Grey EPS XLR 5550 and 5559 SE

Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) has been used in a variety of applications for more than half a century. In 2015, Total introduced two premium grades of grey EPS, XLR 5550 (without flame retardant) and XLR 5559 SE (with a flame retardant). Both products are intended for the insulation market, which accounts for 80% of the EPS used today, particularly in cases where maximum insulation performance must be achieved using a minimum thickness of material.

The Total Ecosolutions Advantage

In comparison with the white EPS, which is the market reference insulation product, the grey EPS grades XLR 5550 and XLR 5559 SE of the Total Excell-R range feature lower thermal conductivity for a given foam density, translating to superior insulation performance.

The Environmental Performance

Compared to the market reference product, white EPS (eco-profile data provided by Plastics Europe), the grey EPS grades XLR 5550 and XLR 5559 SE deliver environmental benefits, namely:

Picto Energy

21% reduction in energy consumption

23%  reduction in greehouse gas emissions
